When you're in the market for a baby monitor, you will wind up doing a lot of research through consumer magazines, product reviews and the Internet in order to get the best deal on your baby monitor. Knowing what to look for in the highest quality monitor will make your choice a lot easier.

You have your baby and things to do. You want to be able to keep an eye on the baby, but you have to work, or you have other children that need your attention.

Here are a couple of ideas that will make you be at ease and be able to take care of the other children.

There are two kinds of baby monitors available for you, one is video and the other is intercom. They both work very well for a mother that is busy in their home.

The first monitor has a radio in the babies room and the other connection in what ever room you are in so you can hear the baby at all times. They have made it so you can hear the baby breathe when they are asleep. You can relax if you are cleaning, working, or doing things with your other kids.

The next monitor is a video monitor that has 2 screens. One for your babies room and the other screen were ever you are. Now you can see your baby sleeping or trying to get out of bed.

There are a lot of things that can happen when you put your baby to bed so many first time moms will feel more comfortable with the video monitor. It is a little more expensive than an intercom monitoring system, but when you are talking about your child and sleeping I think it is worth every penny.

Baby monitors have improved over the years they have gotten more technical so that is good news for you on such things as, the range it can provide. Some can go 300 feet in length. You also have a LCD screen that you can watch your child move around or breath which I know is a relief for many parents.

There are a lot of choices to make you have to go with what works for you and your home. You can go to a baby store were they can answer any questions you may have.

I also say that you can go online and find more information on baby monitors. Hope this information helps in protecting your child and puts you at ease to find the best baby monitor.

When you have your first child, you can be nervous about your newborns safety. You want to make certain that you're doing everything within your ability to assure that your baby grows and develops in a safe surrounding. You think of everything; giving your child the right food, making a point that they're safe, warm, healthy and more and the job can be overpowering. Thankfully there are many support resources for parents, as well as tools and gear that can be used to assure the safety of your little toddler.

Among the most basic items that every parent needs as soon as they bring the child home from the hospital is a baby safety monitor. If you are not acquainted with what they do, they're fundamentally like a hands-free “walky-talky”. There are two parts to a Baby safety monitor; One part stays in the babys bedroom and the other part stays with the parent. When it's turned on, you can hear every little sound that is being made in the nursery. You are able to hear sounds of the baby crying, trying to talk, coughing and even breathing. What these monitors do is afford you peace of mind and allows you to do other chores around the house when you can't be in the room with the baby.

It's not simply those with big houses that need baby monitors. No matter how big or small your home is, a baby monitor will insure that you always know if your baby is secure and healthy. For those that are heavy sleepers, getting a baby safety monitor in the nursery is essential so that you hear when the child cries or wakes up during the night.

There are many different designs and features available in baby safety monitors and they can range in price from very affordable $40.00, up to $200.00 depending on the type. One of the most important features to check is the range of your baby monitor. The longer the range, the better you will be able to hear sounds, even if the baby is on another storey of the home, while you are in the basement. Most baby monitors will have a range of at least 100 feet, but many can go even further. You can even buy a baby safety monitor that keeps track of your babies breathing, guarding against SID's or other sicknesses in which a baby's heart may stop beating. For such a modest investment, a parent can really have peace of mind.

Safety is often the first thing on the mind of new parents when their baby arrives. There are many aspects to baby safety, one of which is avoiding cot death or sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS). Cot death usually occurs when the baby is sleeping and it primarily affects babies who are between one and six months old. Babies who were born prematurely or born with a low birth weight are also particularly at risk.

There are things parents can do to reduce the risk of cot death. Standard precautions include letting the baby sleep on his back, putting him at the foot of the cot, keeping his head uncovered and maintaining a comfortable temperature and a smoke free environment.

Even having taken these precautions, many parents are still worried, given that most parents cannot be present next to the baby at all times. They want to be alerted immediately if something does go wrong while the baby is sleeping, so as to give them a chance to respond to the situation.

Fortunately modern technology provides a helping hand to such parents in the form of a baby movement monitor. It is a device which monitors a baby's movements, including breathing, when he is asleep. It usually consists of a movement sensor pad, a transmitter and a receiver. The setting up and operation of a baby movement monitor is quite simple.

First, the movement sensor pad is placed under the mattress on which the baby is sleeping. It is used to detect the baby's movements. Second, the transmitter, connected to the sensor pad via a cable, wirelessly sends the detected baby signals and sounds to the receiver. Third, the receiver plays the received information on its speakers. Parents take the receiver with them wherever they go within their home. The receiver typically will sound an alarm if no baby movement is detected after 20 seconds.

It is important to know what to do in the event that the baby stops breathing. This means being familiar with baby resuscitation techniques and other urgent steps that can be taken in such situation.

The most well known manufacturer of these baby movement monitoring products is Angelcare. Angelcare movement sensors come in several versions ranging from the popular basic AC201 to the more advanced AC401 models. These systems have been very well received by concerned parents, particular those whose babies fall within the high risk group for SIDS.

A baby movement monitor alone cannot prevent cot death. However, it is yet another useful tool that parents have at their disposal to reduce the likelihood of such event. It can bring peace of mind to parents who are otherwise too worried to leave their baby alone and sleep properly themselves.
